Backyard or Living Room? Picking the Perfect Pokemon Arena
Once the invitations were sent, it was time to pick the venue. I went back and forth between hosting it in our living room or taking the party to the backyard. In the end, I chose the backyard because, well, I didn’t want ten 6-year-olds trampling through my house with frosting-covered hands.

We turned our backyard into a Pokemon Star in The Sky paradise. I set up a “Pokemon Gym” in one corner with some fun games (more on that later) and a “Pokemon Center” where kids could refuel with snacks. To make it feel like the real deal, I hung red and white banners that looked like Pokéballs, and my husband (bless him) even made a cardboard cutout of Professor Oak to greet the kids at the gate. But if you don’t have a backyard or the weather isn’t cooperating, don’t stress. Your living room can work just as well. Move the furniture, throw down a Pokemon-themed tablecloth, and voila—you’ve got your very own indoor training center.

“My Budget-Friendly Décor Tips”
Let me tell you, nothing warms a mom’s heart like seeing her kid light up over something you’ve made. For the decorations, I kept things simple but fun. I found red and white paper lanterns at the dollar store and turned them into Pokéballs with a little black tape. They were such a hit that Jackson asked if we could keep them up after the party.

I also printed out some Pokemon silhouettes and taped them around the yard. Squirtle by the pool, Charmander by the grill—you get the idea. And for the pièce de résistance, I splurged on a giant inflatable Pikachu. Was it necessary? No. Was it amazing? Absolutely. The kids couldn’t stop taking pictures with it.
